This commitment to community news has afforded The Sentinel a loyal and ever growing readership. Several surrounding communities have an interest in The Sentinel, providing additional readership and advertising. The Sentinel is designated as the official newspaper for the City of Newburgh, Town of Newburgh, Newburgh Enlarged City School District, Quassaick Fire District, Vails Gate Fire District and serving the City of Newburgh, and the Townships of Newburgh, New Windsor, Cornwall and surrounding areas in Orange County, New York is designated by the Orange County Legislature as an official newspaper for Orange County. The Sentinel is a twice-weekly newspaper, published every Tuesday and Friday, The Sentinel is the largest paid circulation non- daily newspaper in Orange County, in a field of thirteen paid circulation newspapers in the county. It is second only to its daily competitor in paid circulation. While appealing to the general population, The Sentinel targets the readership of parents of school age children and senior citizens. Uniquely, The Sentinel also has a very strong readership among adolescents due to our extensive school and local sports coverage. The Sentinel has a PAID circulation of over 6,000 plus complimentary circulation through various programs.
